giving is a response to God’s generosity

Giving sums up the most beautiful wishes, feelings, and hopes we have. Jesus defines giving not by the size of our gifts, but by the condition of the heart from which it is given.

For Jesus and for us, motivation is everything when it comes to giving.

How can we honor God and one another with our giving? We’ve got some ideas …

• We can give God the best of who we are, where we are, and whatever we have to others — and at the same time, acknowledge when we make mistakes and fall short of our intentions.

• We can offer our presence for the long term with love, good cheer, humility and grace in the short term.

• We can take care of ourselves so we can give people our best selves.

• We can remember that whatever we do, it is done with the grace, power, and strength lovingly given to us by God — and that is more than enough.
