Gifted.
“I want to talk about the various ways God’s Spirit gets worked into our lives.” —1 Corinthians 12:1
Paul lists famous gifts: wisdom, faith, discernment, healing, among others that each of us has and are uniquely our own.
Some of these gifts can become disruptive, especially when we use diversity to divide, confront, or see one another as evil or “not one of us”.
Our gifts can be irreconcilable, but the truth of God’s divine creation is laid before us — God didn’t make a world of gray, blurred lines or sameness.
The world is God’s work and we’re called to share in that work with all of our differences as an individual identity and at the same time as community rooted ultimately together in God.
We’re called to focus on the things God has divinely gifted to each of us and acknowledge how similarly and uniquely everybody else has been allotted gifts too. Everyone under God is gifted.
That’s what bears the weight of eternity — not race, politics, tribe, country or anything else.
“Holy God, may we have the humility to honor the many ways each of us are gifted and privileged to share in the work of your creation.”
