For At-Risk & Homeless Youth
Ozone House: Free, confidential shelter and support for homeless youth (ages 10-24) and families, including services for runaway and high-risk youth.
Washtenaw ISD Education Project: Assists students experiencing homelessness with hygiene, clothing, school supplies, fees, and post-secondary support.
Career & Education
Washtenaw Youth Career Academy: Individualized programs to build leadership and employment skills, a collaboration with County Children's Services, WISD, and others.
SummerWorks: A 10-week summer employment and mentorship program for ages 16-24, connecting youth with employers.
Peace Neighborhood Center (Alternatives for Youth): After-school tutoring, leadership, and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) for middle schoolers (grades 6-8).
Justice & Mental Health
Corner Health Center: Offers affordable health and mental health services for youth and families.
Child Protective Services: This program is responsible for investigating allegations of child abuse and neglect.
Overview of local mental health services: For mental health, substance use questions, or crisis support, call the local 24/7 ACCESS Helpline at 734-544-3050. Phone translation available for Spanish or other languages. Call, text, or chat 988 with any mental health question or crisis (24/7 National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline in English and Spanish). If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
Washtenaw County “Wish You Knew” Campaign: This program has sparked mental health dialogues in Washtenaw County. Both youth and adults are beginning to shift negatives perceptions of mental health into positive ones, which is phenomenal!
Washtenaw County Youth Center: Provides secure temporary custody, care, and life skills/educational programming for youth involved in the justice system.
