Everyone deserves relationships free from domestic violence. When you're ready, whether you're leaving or staying with an abuser, it's important to keep safe, especially, if there’s the potential for a domestic violence situation.

o A first step to take is to make sure you identify or recognize abuse or the warning signs of an abuser.

o The WomensLaw.org website has information on safety tips for victims of domestic violence who are either currently in a relationship with the abuser and not planning on leaving or who are planning on leaving an abuser.

If you have already left an abusive relationship, there are additional sections in the Safety Tips menu that may apply to your current situation.

o There is National Domestic Violence Hotline number you can call for help (1-800) 799-7233.

o SafeHouse Center services are free, confidential and available to all survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault, who live, work or were victimized in Washtenaw County.
